Michael Clive left the publishing industry at the age of thirty to study music criticism and teach at the Peabody Conservatory. A protégé of the American conductor and critic Elliot Galkin, Clive earned the honor, unusual for music journalists, of being warned to stay out of town during controversy over his critical commentary in the Baltimore Sun. His writing for the PBS television series Live From Lincoln Center led him to Columbia University as one of its first Mid-Career Journalism Fellows. He was recently unmasked as the formerly anonymous opera advocate The Operahound.
